New Vietnam Travel Requirements Starting July 1, 2026: Complete Checklist for Filipinos ๐ป๐ณ๐
Vietnam has new entry requirements starting July 1, 2026 โ including a mandatory Health Declaration. Here's the complete checklist for Filipino travelers.
There's something new in the travel requirements if you're heading to Vietnam starting July 1, 2026. So what exactly do you need to prepare for your upcoming Vietnam trip? Here's the complete breakdown.
1. Valid Passport ๐
You'll need a valid passport with at least 6 months validity remaining from your date of arrival in Vietnam. Make sure you also have at least 2 blank pages available for any entry stamps.
2. Visa-Free for Up to 21 Days ๐
Good news โ Philippine passport holders do not need a visa for stays up to 21 days in Vietnam. If your trip exceeds 21 days, you'll need to apply for an e-visa in advance, valid for up to 90 days.

3. eTravel for Philippine Departure ๐ฒ
For Philippine immigration, make sure you've submitted eTravel within 72 hours before your flight. This is required for all departures from Philippine airports โ separate from any Vietnam-specific requirement.
4. Vietnam Digital Arrival Card ๐
Part of the newer requirements is the Vietnam Digital Arrival Card. This is a free pre-arrival declaration you fill out online within 72 hours before your arrival in Vietnam โ not a visa, but an additional entry declaration required of all foreign nationals, including visa-exempt travelers like Filipinos.
๐ Submit it at: prearrival.immigration.gov.vn
โ ๏ธ Important: This is currently required for arrivals at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) and Phu Quoc International Airport โ other airports like Hanoi (Noi Bai) and Da Nang are not yet affected, though expansion is expected. Check before you fly if you're landing elsewhere.
๐ก Note on the QR code: A QR code is generated after submission, though it's possible immigration officers won't personally ask to see it on arrival since your information is already in the system. Still โ screenshot it and keep it accessible just in case.
โ ๏ธ It's free. Be wary of third-party websites charging a fee for this. Only use the official government portal above.
5. New: Health Declaration (Starting July 1, 2026) ๐ฅ
This is the genuinely new requirement. Starting July 1, 2026, under Decree 165/2026/ND-CP, every traveler entering, leaving, or transiting through Vietnam must complete a health declaration โ regardless of nationality or visa type.
What this involves: basic health information, and in some cases authorities may request proof of vaccination or other preventive measures, particularly during periods of heightened health concern. If symptoms or health risks are flagged, officers may conduct a brief on-site inspection โ document check and short interview about travel history โ capped at a maximum of 2 hours.
๐ก UPDATE (as of July 1, 2026): The Healthy Ministry of Vietnam has clarified that the health declaration is not mandatory until there is an outbreak or other health emergency. This means that on a regular day or period, no health declaration required.
6. Optional but Recommended: Immigration Fast Track ๐
Immigration lines at Vietnamese airports โ both arrival and departure โ can get long depending on the time of day. For peace of mind, booking an Immigration Fast Track service is a smart move.
Here's how it works: a staff member meets you and escorts you through a dedicated lane, bypassing the regular immigration queue entirely. Significantly faster, especially during peak arrival times.
